Brigita
This late season Australian bred blueberry crops abundantly, and produces firm fruit that resist bruising. The fruit tend to ripen at the same time it’s ideal for mass picking – useful for storing, freezing or processing all at once. Keeps well. They can be self fertile but they yield will be better when pollinated by another variety.
Blue Rose
A blueberry with particularly large fruit, starting to ripen as early as Christmas and cropping through until late summer.
Climax
An early season Rabbiteye variety that grows upright and has proven its toughness in various difficult soil locations. The berries have a good flavour, are medium in size, medium blue colour, and have a small scar. This variety was selected for its potential to machine harvest, and its concentrated ripening period.
O’Neal
Often considered to have the best flavour of the Southern highbush, large dark blue fruit matures very early from summer to early autumn. Needs only 400 hours of chill. Evergreen foliage in mild winters or turns brilliant red before falling in cold climates. O’Neal is one of our best-tasting varieties.
Legacy
Evergreen – semi evergreen bush which is upright and has high yields of medium sized fruit. One of the later fruiting varieties which can also enhance pollination of other corymbosum blueberries, but will self pollinate.
Premier
Early season rabbit eye blueberry, produces heavily after 500 chill hours. Suitable for machine harvesting and pollination enhancement of Climax, Tifblue, Brightwell and Powder Blue.
Bluecrop
Brilliant plant for cooler climates which is suitable for machine harvesting. Self pollinating and yields high with berries of excellent taste.
Powder Blue
Late ripening rabbit eye with upright habit. Excellent pollinator for Premier, Brightwell, Tifblue, Climax. Due to the low chill hours required is very suitable for warmer climates. Incredibly tough plant which can withstand cultural challenges.
Bilberry
The fruit of Bilberry are like blueberries but smaller and darker. The berries are not produced in clusters, but only as single, or rarely, twin fruit.
Elliot
Medium vigour, semi-upright bush, extremely heavy yields. Small to medium, powder blue, firm, slightly tart berries. Berries come off in just a few picks. Berries soften with extreme temperature. Suits cooler districts.
Denise
A northern high bush variety that is only suited to cooler areas as it has high chilling requirements. Fruit is very large and round, medium blue with red around stem end when ripe. Great as fresh eating berry. Early season ripening over about 7 weeks.
Northland
Spreading, vigorous bush to 1.5m. Northland is a very productive berry with medium size, dark, sweet fruit. Fruit hangs without dropping and gets progressively sweeter. Large picking scar makes fruit unsuitable for wholesale market sales, but is an excellent variety for U-pick, local sales, and for processing. Northland performs exceptionally well in areas of extreme summer and winter temperatures.
Tifblue
Mid season rabbit eye requiring 500-600 chill hours. Plant is tall and upright and vigorous in growth habit. Berries are large, firm and hold well on the bush. needs another rabbit eye such as Climax, Brightwell, Premier or Powder Blue for pollination
Brightwell
Early ripening rabbit eye variety which has vigorous upright habit. Low chill hours of 350-400 required and requires pollinator such as Powder Blue, Tifblue, Climax or Premier. Excellent plant for harsh climatic situations
Sharp Blue
Self pollinating late fruiting plant which has low chill requirements. Fruit in hot weather will become soft and requires regular picking. Excellent for ‘pick your own’ or home garden.
Sunshine Blue
Low growing semi evergreen suitable for home gardens. One of the lowest chill hour blueberries with 150 hours required for fruit set. Self pollinating and fruit is quite dense on the tips in late spring.
